The Chabad Management System runs on Microsoft Access 2000 or higher. This means that in order to use CMS you need to have Microsoft Access 2000 installed on your computer.
If you don't have a copy of Access 2000, you can download Access Runtime at www.chabadms.com/files/accessruntime.zip However, serious users of CMS should definitely obtain a full working copy of Access. Some important features are unavailable when using Access Runtime.
There are three ways to install the program:
When installing the program from the CD, insert the CD into the computer and double-click the Setup button. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen.
CMS can be downloaded from http://www.chabadms.com. Once the file is downloaded, follow these steps to install the program:
The program uses two core files - a data file and a design file. The data file is called CMS.mdb. The design file's name varies depending on the CMS version you are using. An example of the design file is: CMS5-04.2.0.mdb. This is the version released on May 2005. In order for the CMS to work properly, you will need to 'tell' CMS where the data file is. When first running the CMS design file (the actual program), CMS will prompt you for the location of the data file.
In addition to these two files, there are some Sound files that provide you with audio feedback as you work and some Word Templates. These files can be downloaded from http://www.chabadms.com.
